Stor is a simple guy - and I don’t meant that because he got knocked on the noggin pretty hard as a kid. No, Stor is a man of action - a kind of guy to believe in getting things done rather than just using ‘fancy words’ to talk about it. Stor is a “do’er” - and once he’s set on doing something, he’ll see it through to the end, no matter what.

An odd thing about Stor is that he seems to have two different faces when in battle and when out of battle. To his enemies, he is a ruthless killer - charging headfirst into chaos with a war cry that can empty any sane man’s bowels. However, out of battle and around those who he trusts, Stor is a pretty chill guy. Doesn’t talk much, but again, who needs talking? His brother, Wes, does most of it for him. He likes children, especially the ones wanting to become Shadows one day. However, this doesn’t apply to Non-Shadow Alliance children, who he kindly ignores - and if they bother him, he will gladly show his teeth and spook them away.

Since he could win his way in sparring matches on brute force alone, Stor grew up believing himself to be pretty hot stuff. Not even a solid kick in the head could snuff out that arrogance of his. However, as an adult it has calmed down a little bit. He still doesn’t analyze situations until after he’s already in them - and even then, his “analyses” aren’t the most founded. Most usually his strength is enough to get him through - and if it isn’t, it's enough to keep him in the fight till backup comes and saves his hide! He’s incredibly knowledgeable on how to fight (specifically how to smash stuff).

Like said earlier, Stor isn’t a talker. He used to be as a kid, but then a head injury sort of shook around his brain a bit. He recovered, but side effects still linger. For one, Stor only speaks in short sentences, or jumbled sentences. Sometimes he’ll switch into speaking in third person - which many assume is just because he’s arrogant, but it's not (well, ok maybe not entirely). When he was a kid, he would get teased over his odd speech patterns - which Stor dealt with by kicking the crap out of the bullies; but it did get under his skin a little. As a result, he grew into talking less and less, and instead let his actions speak for him. Physical gestures, short sentences, grunts, and other short little noises; that’s how Stor communicates.

Voice:

While he doesn't really speak much, when he does its with a deep, booming, bass-y sound, similar to this and to Durnehviir (from Skyrim) in this clip. Its loud, rumbly, and enough to make a grown stag piss himself. Don't even get me started on his war cry..

History:

From day one of his life, it was very clear how the rest of it would go. Stor was born as a rather big colt - a pride to both his mother and father (even though it almost killed his mother- but I digress), and held a deep passion for smashing stuff with his big ol’ hooves. Bugs, bones, sticks, rocks - anything that little Stor could pulverize, he would with childlike wonder and glee. Not long after his birth, he was passed off to Caretakers - as almost every newborn was, especially those with shadows for parents- but it didn’t bother Stor all that much. He continued to smash stuff into pieces, and the caretakers encouraged it. Eventually, it wasn’t that long before he figured out there was a career for pounding stuff into the dirt, which he eagerly dedicated the majority of his time to prepare for.

Sparring with other hopeful-Shadows, Stor would usually pound them straight into the dirt. He was a pretty brawny kid, and it took quite a lot of effort to knock him down - which not too many kids had the patience nor skill to do so. Most of his fights were for fun, or in defense of his elder brother, Wes. The big colt would win much of the fights he got himself into on brute force alone - which was more than enough to reassure himself that he was awesome. However, it wasn’t long before other kids started to get wiser; and they used their heads to figure something out.

One day, one of the colts challenged Stor to a spar; just like any other day. Of course Stor accepted, figuring it’d be another victory under his belt, and the fight commenced. What Stor didn’t expect was that this colt would play “dirty”; and by “dirty”, I mean, “figure out his weak points”. The colt lured Stor into a sense of security, and then once Stor believed he had won, BAM -the lights went out. He had been kicked smack-dab in the noggin, pretty freaking hard (see Lights Out).

It wasn’t until a couple of days later that he came back to, his head hurting and his pride wounded. By luck, he overheard the witch speaking to one of his caretakers, telling them it might be wise to ‘persuade’ the colt to change his life-goals (on account of his probable head trauma). Stor was insulted! What did this healer know?! He felt perfectly fine! ...Ok, maybe his head hurt, and words came out of his mouth a little funnier - but he could still fight! That’s what a Shadow did was fight - and he wasn’t going to let one kick in the head ruin it for him! He recovered fairly quickly, and with the help of his brother, he returned straight to the sparring ring - eager for a rematch (and to prove that healer wrong).

Since that spar, he quickly adapted his fighting techniques to protect his head more so than the rest of him. The rest of him could take a beating - but another good couple of kicks to the head, and it might be a problem. It also helped that eventually he grew thick scales and horns around his head and neck, making it a harder target for foes to dent. He ALSO had his elder brother with him, who always had his back since day one - so that was reassuring. At the age of five, he became a Shadow, and it was the happiest moment of his life.

Ever since then, he has served the Shadow Empire faithfully, smashing whatever those higher in power tell him to smash with no hesitation. His loyalty to the herd is unshakable, and he would gladly give his own life if it meant securing the future of the Shadow Empire. The Queen greatly impresses him, since she was able to do something that no other Queen ever could, and as such, his loyalty to her is the greatest. Well, he's also pretty damn loyal to his brother, too - the two are like peas in a pod! But still- he’d do anything for the Queen if she asked, no hesitation; like a well trained hound.

In 1994, Stor and his brother played part in the invasion and occupation of Auster, helping to quickly subdue any resistance and put the remaining Auster into their 'places' beneath them. Stor enjoyed this work greatly, only fueling his loyalty to the Queen and his higher ups even more. As the war went on, both brothers continued to work hard and follow their orders to the mark, which eventually did catch the eye of the Queen and her son, Locke. Both brothers were given the hefty promotion to High Admiral, tasked with the duty of serving both the Queen and Grand Admiral Locke directly- which, mostly involved them smashing heads with whoever the Queen and/or Locke pointed at, and being threatening in general. Both Wes and Stor were very good at this, and fit right in.

The remaining years of the war mostly consisted of beating up the opposition and doing whatever else was asked of him. For Stor, this mostly meant accompanying Locke and assisting with his tasks - a job which Stor took great pride in. The siege on Nombeko was an embarrassing loss (one that Stor is still peeved about to this day), but the following siege on Linx more than made up for it. After all, he got to beat up not just one, but SEVERAL Queen's Guards, AND help take the traitorous Crown Princess Cadhara back to get executed! Jackpot!

Of course, history knows how the rest went down. The Shadows returned home, only to lose again in dramatic fashion. The saraph betrayed them, the rest of the world opposed them, and they were sent skittering off back into the shadows. In the chaos, he nearly lost his own brother as well as Locke, but after quickly reuniting with him, the duo fled into the woods. For a good few seasons after that, the brothers were on the lam- hiding out in caverns and old burrows away from prying eyes. Occasionally they'd have close run-ins with Austers (sometimes citizens, sometimes guards), but were always able to make their escape.

Eventually, around Spring 1999, Wes and Stor hear word that the shadows have reformed- and not only that, but their best buddy Locke survived the aftermath and is looking for them! Eager to get back to work, the brothers put down their hobby of tormenting the countryside and return to the Shadows' new home, making themselves comfy again serving the new Quee- er, "Dreadnaught" Noaxmi! Stor is incredibly excited to get back to task beating up and threatening others - but after being urged to be 'sneaky' by both Wes and Locke, he is forced to learn more 'quiet' approaches to confrontation. This.... doesn't go entirely well, but he makes a good effort.

The next few years are spent out on the hunt for these mysterious 'formaris stones', as per the request of the Dreadnaught. He doesn't have too much success with it, although he does happen to find one scale on a trip with Locke and Noaxmi! However, while their effort was good and strong, it was not enough to secure a total victory, but instead more of a partial one. The dragons brought havoc down onto a lot of anomalous, and they got a cool new floating castle, too - so that was nice.

As the years have gone on, though- Stor has grown rather... bored with his duties. With a change in leadership after Noaxmi's 'retirement', it seems as though the Shadows are looking for a more 'peaceful' way of life going forward- something Stor isn't entirely sure about. Still, however, Noaxmi seemed confident with this path, and his loyalty to the Dreadnaught is unshakable- so he follows wholeheartedly. Still, part of him longs for 'the old days' of the Shadow way of life... Or, maybe thats just him longing for a good spar or two with others? Could be both?
